After investigating aspects of the cinematic through the medium of painting, my focus has shifted towards the art of collage.
Bringing new life to vintage print through colour and narrative, I explore fleeting moments of alchemy, anxiety and human nature.
One definition of alchemy that can be given is ‘a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination.’ I enjoy exploring this magical process often with a dichotomy of elements such as blooming flowers growing from weapons. This is intended to reflect our complicated relationship with destruction and creation, or violence and peace.
Having spent the last five years living in Vancouver, a city that tends to have drawn out periods of grey, I have found myself craving increasingly saturated colour. Bright, fluorescent hues in my work are a deliberate response to my often subdued environment.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts focused in Studio Art/Art History from the University of Guelph.
Other interests include cats, unicorns, artisanal donuts, and ufo conspiracy theories.
